Netflix movies 2022:
Sequels of loud (and controversial) productions of “Knives” and “Tall Girl”. Adaptations of the cult books “In the West without changes” and “Blonde”. Or maybe instead European comedy productions, which notoriously enjoy great interest in our country? Netflix will have (almost) everything in 2022. We recommend the most interesting news.
Dinner for four
Italian cinema is becoming more and more popular on Polish Netflix, so it can be assumed in advance that “Dinner for Four” has a chance to become a hit “from the second row”. The more that we are dealing here with a more interesting concept than in most romantic comedies. Alessio Maria Federici’s film tells two alternative stories about love in parallel. The starting point is a dinner organized for four singles. How would their life go if they chose another partner?
Premiere: January 5
The golden age of horror movies falls every year in the fall, but Netflix obviously couldn’t afford to completely let go of the genre in the remaining months. The Spanish “Odludzie” promises to be one of the most interesting horror stories of the new year. The action of the production takes place in the nineteenth century and focuses on the desperate struggle for the survival of a boy named Diego and his mother. The seemingly innocent two are haunted by a mysterious, bony Beast with empty eye sockets. Can they survive the encounter with the monster?
Premiere: January 6
Munich: Facing War
Historical drama is one of the few genres that Netflix has yet to get a real taste of. The spy film “Munich: Facing War”, announced at the end of January, is supposed to change this state of affairs. The production tells about the mission to seize secret documents that are to confirm the British government’s true intentions. The cast of “Munich: Facing the War” includes, among others, George MacKay, Jannis Niewohner, Jeremy Irons, and Mark Lewis Jones.
Premiere: January 21
Escape from Spiderhead
The movie “Escape from Spiderhead” (previously called “Spiderhead”) was to debut on VOD in 2021. Work on production, however, encountered serious problems related to the coronavirus pandemic and the management of the platform was constantly postponing the premiere. Fortunately, it looks like we’ll be seeing the new Chris Hemsworth movie in less than a month. “Escape from Spiderhead” is an adaptation of George Saunders’ dystopia. In the near future, convicts may shorten their sentence if they agree to participate in an experiment with drugs that change emotions. One of the inmates decides to take this opportunity.
Premiere: January 21
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
In recent years, we have had many returns of the cult slasher series. Another of them will be available on the Netflix platform in just over a month. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the sequel to the identically-titled 1974 horror film. The new story will focus on a group of influencers who, while in an abandoned Texas town, will resurrect a ruthless killer known as Leatherface.
Premiere: February 4
The Adam Project
“The Adam Project” is another original science fiction film headed for Netflix next year. The production with Ryan Reynolds, Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, Mark Ruffalo and Catherine Keener in the cast tells the story of a man who goes back into the past. He’s not doing it by accident. In the distant past, she meets a younger self and asks him for help in confronting their late father.
Premiere: early 2022
Next April, anime fans in particular will have reasons to be pleased. It is then that the full-length work of director Tetsuro Araki, known for his work on such hits as “Death Note” and “Attack of the Titans”, will debut on Netflix. His new film “Bubble” tells the story of post-apocalyptic Tokyo, which one day receives a mysterious flood of bubbles. From now on, gravity works differently than before. Bubble is one of the Netflix movies 2022.
Premiere: April 28
Based on a true story, “Fighting the Ice” is an Icelandic-Danish survival film. The action of the production takes place in 1909 and tells about the monumental journey of Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen, who set out on a mission to undermine American claims to Greenland. The main role in the film is played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, known from “Game of Thrones”, and the cast also includes Charles Dance (also a friend of the fans of this series), Joe Cole and Helda Reed.
In the West, no change
No Change in the West is one of the most famous anti-war novels in the history of European literature. Its first adaptation is, in turn, one of the most famous works of the silent era of cinema and winner of two Oscars – for the best film and director. So catching up with these successes will not be easy, but the new version of Netflix’s “No changes in the West” seems to have considerable ambitions. This is indicated by the cast, which includes Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Aaron Hilmer, Edin Hasanovic, Daniel Bruhl and Devid Striesow.
Andrew Dominik, director of hits such as “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Cowardly Robert Ford” and “To Kill As It’s Easy To Say”, will return in 2022 with another major project. “Blonde” is a Marilyn Monroe biography film based on the book by Joyce Carol Oates. Work on the film has been going on for four years, and the role of the title character was rejected by Jessica Chastain and Naomi Watts. It is not known who will play Monroe in the end, but production is set to start in January.
Tall girl 2
“Tall Girl” is one of the most popular and most criticized Netflix movies of 2019. The production of Nzinghi Stewart is considered by many audiences as the worst high school story in the history of the platform. Will the sequel raise the level a bit higher, or maybe dozens of YouTubers and journalists will be using it again? We will probably find out about it in Netflix movies 2022
For knives 2
The sequel to “Knives” is a production for which Netflix was willing to pay an absolutely insane amount. The platform’s proposal was finally adopted, so next year we will see the second part of the crime comedy with Daniel Craig there. In addition to him, the cast of the sequel also includes, among others, Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Leslie Odom Jr., Janelle Monae, Ethan Hawke, and Kate Hudson. The plot of “Na knoż 2” is not known yet, but Rian Johnson will definitely be behind the camera.
According to the announcement, at the end of next year, Netflix will release another high-profile title. It’s about the action movie “The Mother” directed by Niki Caro. The plot of the production is somewhat reminiscent of this year’s novelty “Kate”, because it tells about a killer who has to run away from her rivals. The woman will have to leave her hiding place to save the life of her daughter abandoned years ago. The film will star Jennifer Lopez, Joseph Fiennes, Omari Hardwick and Gael Garcia Bernal. The Mother is one of the Netflix movies 2022.
Premiere: end of 2022
