As everyone expected, Honor presented the Magic5 device pair, of which the Pro model will also appear on the European market. The manufacturer, which is independent from Huawei, prepared very well for this presentation, but at the same time there were no huge surprises: a completely top-of-the-line model arrived, where the camera and the display were the most important, since the hardware is the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is this year’s works on most high-end phones.

The Magic5 Pro’s display is curved in all directions, which Honor says gives it an airy look, but potential buyers may have a headache trying to find a film for it. However, they won’t get a headache due to the 2160 PWM brightness control, which is definitely a positive for the otherwise 6.81-inch, 120 Hz refresh, 1312 x 2848 pixel display. By the way, it is also outstanding in terms of luminance (maximum 1800 nits), and TÜV Rheinland has issued a certificate that the panel also performs well in terms of blue light filtering.

The other important component is the camera, which was immediately introduced by the fact that it scored 152 points in the DXOMark test, catapulting itself to first place. This was put together with three 50 megapixel camera modules, for which they wrote their own image processing algorithm (Ultra Fusion Computational Optics, but it almost doesn’t matter what the name is), and they also went to great lengths to make high-quality photos with a short shutter speed even in low light conditions ( Millisecond Falcon Capture, another sounding name), and the Honor Image Engine is responsible for everything, whatever that means. The bottom line is that the F/1.6 aperture of the main camera is extremely bright, the 1/1.12 inch sensor, laser autofocus and OIS also help from the hardware side. The winter lens has a periscopic design, offers 3.5x magnification, and the ultra-wide module has autofocus. The set is completed by a ToF sensor.

Just like yesterday in the Xiaomi 13, this Chinese phone already has a UWB chip, and of course all the known data communication solutions are present (Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6, NFC, infrared port), a 5100 mAh battery is packed under the back panel in, which can accept 66 watts of wired and 50 watts of wireless charging. The smallest model in 8/256 GB packaging with UFS 4.0 storage will arrive in stores within a few months. Based on its international price of 1,200 euros, the domestic price tag may exceed half a million.
