On a good momentum for almost a year, Motorola has finally overtaken everyone by presenting today its Moto Edge X30: the first smartphone equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
For now, the mobile is only announced in China, but one can reasonably expect announcements on its availability in the United States and other parts of the globe quickly (the CES in Las Vegas would be the best time to do this).
Xiaomi styled to the pole
Every year, it’s the same fight that drives the builders. Which will be the first to adopt Qualcomm’s new chip? And if Xiaomi was able to trumpet its last days that its Model 12 will be the pioneer in the matter, it is ultimately Motorola that caps it to the pole.
Expected for several months, the Moto Edge X30 will be marketed in China on December 15 and is presented as the most ambitious smartphone from Motorola. Quite classic in appearance, or at least in the vein of any 2021 smartphone, it’s the first in a long time for the brand to have a state-of-the-art SoC.
Moto Edge X30 Specs
This new smartphone is equipped with a 6.7-inch FHD + AMOLED screen clocked at 144 Hz (!). Configurable from 8 to 12 GB of RAM, it can increase to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. On the battery side, the Edge X30 displays a 5000 mAh rechargeable battery at 68 W (35 minutes are necessary to fully recharge it, according to the brand).
The Moto Edge X30 benefits from a somewhat strange photo configuration in that it combines two impressive sensors and a very low-end module. In this case, the wide-angle will offer 50 megapixels (1 / 1.55 “; ƒ / 1.9; OIS), just like the ultra-wide-angle (1 / 2.76”; ƒ / 2.2). The trio is completed by a module dedicated to the 2-megapixel depth of field.
In accordance with leaks that we relayed a few days ago, a special edition of the Moto Edge X30 equipped with a front camera under the screen is still on the program. It has not yet been shown by Motorola, however.
The Moto Edge X30 will be marketed next week for 306 euros, which is simply impressive. Of course, we must expect a greatly revised upward price when the international version of the smartphone shows up.
