The collaboration between microsoft and the Ministry of Culture to promote the use of this system, resulted in the development of a quechua version of the package office 365 in the framework of the Decade of the Indigenous languages (2022-2032) promoted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (unesco).
This update of Windows 11the most recent version of the system developed by microsoftwill make it easier for more than 3 million people who speak this language in Peru can create economic opportunities, obtain technological skillspromote education and take advantage of citizen services, maintaining their local language and culture, without facing language barriers or sacrificing their cultural identity.
The presentation event of this version of Windows 11 was attended by Giovanna Cortez, country manager of microsoft Peru and the Vice Minister of Interculturality, Rosilda Nunta Guimaraes from the Ministry of Culture, who indicated that this version of the microsoft was developed thanks to the work of the Interpretation and Translation Center in indigenous languages.
This institution, which belongs to the Ministry of Culture, helps interpret languages in emergency cases, made itself available to the technology to help her during the process of creating Windows 11 in Quechua chanka version.
“We hope that these operating systems will be extended to other indigenous languages to impact the more than 4 million speakers of indigenous languages in the country,” said Deputy Minister Rocilda Nunta.
