“We had a wide coverage in many aspects. from the most innovators What metaverseeven topics that would seem to be unrelated to technology, such as the construction of houses, but that in the end have it, “he assured TechMarkup.

Alexander indicated that “technology and how we are implementing it influences people’s lives through smart homes, the health sector, things that facilitate the development of activities”. This regardless of the type of connection you have, be it 5G or Wi-Fi 7, something that is even considered when building a house.

The need for connectivity

The case of connectivity is, according to Alexander Rojas, the common point of all the participants of the MediaTek Mobile Latam Congress as microsoftXiaomi, Motorolaoperators such as TIM in Brazil and AT&T in Mexico.

For the MediaTek representative, regardless of the type of connectivity that people use (5G, Wi-Fi, satellite, etc.) or even the geographical context in which they are located, all of them will at some point need technology related to the connectivity.

“The increase in the use of smartphones is a situation that encourages the development of smart homes. These are technologies from which it is possible to develop technological environmentsand with which you can manage and control the tasks of countless connected home appliances, with the press of a button or by activating voice commands”, said Cathy Tseng, Regional Xiaomi Store Operations.

reduce the technology gap in Latin America On the other hand, in order to highlight the work carried out by the governments of different countries on issues of connectivity and access to the 5G network, Alexander indicated that they are seeking to close the existing digital divide in the region, where there are still various limitations that prevent full use of these networks.

“We need a more universal connection. There is still a lot to develop in 5G and I think that (…) each country has a different reality. Mexico is already implementing it, Chile is betting on more advanced technology (…)”, he assured TechMarkup.

Likewise, Claudio Araya San Martín, Undersecretary of Telecommunications of Chile, said that “by the end of 2022, connectivity 5G It will have around 1 billion users globally. The importance of this technology lies in the fact that one of its main purposes is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life in all its dimensions, since it has repercussions on transport, commerce, the economy, telecommunicationsagriculture, among other sectors.

In addition, it was indicated that the next industrial revolution will not have as protagonists the smart phones but to purely digital environments and platforms that connect devices.

“We directly had almost all the countries of Latin America participating through the panelists and in two different languages. A great effort, not easy at all”, highlighted Alexander Rojas.

The Metaverse must be one

During his participation in the second edition of the MediaTek Mobile Latam Congress, Richard Windsormade a presentation in which the importance of adapting technology companies to a virtual environment such as the metaverse was valued.

Windsor, founder of the digital ecosystem research firm Radio Free Mobile, said “we see the metaverse and there can only be one (…) the internet expands to form a 3D space where users can interact more deeply with each other and with services”.

He also added that “if you have your smartphone, your window to the metaverse is going to be very two-dimensional; whereas if I have a screen of virtual reality or augmented reality, then the experience is going to be more immersive. The key is that it’s the same environment and that’s how it could take off.”

The future of the Metaverse to 2030

Since the announcement of the development of the metaverse project, the expectation regarding the purely virtual environment of the platform has aroused expectations for users and, to a certain extent, for brands and other companies that seek to integrate into this digital ecosystem.

According to Richard Windsor, the Metaverse is not yet relevant enough to generate a major impact on the economy, which is why he places this project within its earliest stage. (Quick Telecast)

However, for Richard Windsor, this platform is not yet relevant enough to generate a greater impact on the economy, which is why he places this project in its earliest stage and explained that this is the reason why it has not yet you can see a real takeoff from the Metaverse.

For the researcher, “it may be that in 2030 the Metaverse will be used more than telephones, so it will be a gradual, long and slow transition.” For now, according to what he explained during his presentation, the companies that are at the forefront of the “race to the Metaverse” are Fortnite Y Roblox for the use of their digital environments.
