M3GAN 2.0: sequel confirmed for January 2025

Fans of today’s scariest doll can celebrate: This Wednesday (18), Universal Pictures announced the sequel to M3GANtitled Megan 2.0. The film is scheduled for release on January 17, 2025 and will feature the return of screenwriter Akela Cooper, as well as actresses Allison Williams and Violet McGraw. It has not yet been confirmed, however, whether director Gerard Johnstone will be present in the continuation.

The film of the newest member of the group of “horror dolls” arrives in Brazil this Thursday (19). The new terror from producer Blumhouse and distributed by Universal Pictures, is having a huge success in other countries, such as the United States, which had the premiere of the film brought forward to January 6, due to the great expectations of the public.

What is the M3GAN movie about?

With an acid humor, the film tells the story of Gemma, played by Allison Williams, a roboticist who is creating a robot, M3GAN, to be the best friend of the children who acquire it. When he presents his niece Cady, played by Violet McGraw, with a robot doll prototype, the machine loses control and becomes a danger.

Conquering critics and audience, the horror had a box office above what was being projected. In its opening weekend in US theaters, the film was expected to gross between $17 million and $20 million. However, the final amount was US$ 30.2 million, with international collection reaching US$ 45 million. M3GAN now join the classics Chucky, Annabelle and several other famous toys that terrify their victims.
