Kat Dennings is Jules and her group of friends is made up of Madison (characterized by Brenda Songknown for her role in Hotel Sweet Hotel), Stella (performed by Shay Mitchellbest known for her role in Pretty Little Liars) and Izzy (Esther Povitsky). This second season tells that Jules, close to turning 30 faces a phase of disappointment. However, very close to her friends, she must keep the group together, while each one follows their own path and cements a deeper relationship with each other and with themselves. At its core, the comedy drama focuses on the power of women and the power of their friendships.
In an interview conducted by POPSUGAR to the protagonists of the series, in relation to her character about to turn 30, Kat Dennings expressed:
“My twenties were a nightmare. I was excited that it had just been done and that I had the illusion of starting again in some way. There is this veiled mystery about what happens when a woman turns 30, almost as if her life is over forever. Of course it’s not true! Life just gets better and better. All the good things in my life happened after I was 30, so there you have it.”
In the same interview, regarding the same question, Brenda Song added:
“I remember thinking, ‘At 30, I should be here,’ so as I got closer, I thought, ‘Am I a failure?’ I actually realized that they are just expectations that we put on ourselves for no reason. The best thing about turning 30 was being able to let it go. Once I was able to let it go, I was able to really listen to myself and feel comfortable in my own skin. My thirties have been great. This is when the fun happens.”
