Johnny Depp shoots his second film as a director, ‘Modì’, 25 years after his debut behind the cameras

Released from the tumultuous and highly publicized trial that pitted him against his ex, Amber HeardJohnny Depp has been in the news again this year, but already for cinematographic reasons. At the presentation last May in Cannes of Jeanne DuBarryopening the contest, in which he plays King Louis XV, co-starring and directed by the French Maiwennand which was released in theaters in Spain last Friday, September 22, is followed by the fact that he has gotten down to work with his next work, but this time behind the cameras to direct what will be his second feature film titled Modì.
The story that has captivated him to embark on another adventure assuming the directorial duties is the narration of one of the crucial moments of the Italian painter, draftsman and sculptor Amedeo Clemente Modigliani, in Paris in 1916. A biopic vintage with a cast that includes Riccardo Scamarcio (Vitale Portfoglio in Mystery in Venice), Antonia Desplat (from the series Shantaram) and the iconic Al Pacino. A cast to which the Italian has been added Luisa Ranieriwho played the voluptuous Aunt Patrizia in It was the hand of God by Paolo Sorrentino.
According to media such as Variety, filming has begun on stages in Budapest and will continue later in locations in Italy and Paris.
Depp’s debut as a director took place in 1997 with The Brave and, despite the fact that it received lukewarm reviews and a cold commercial receptionwas a moving drama in which he himself starred in a cast that included the Mexican Elpidia Carrillo (the main female protagonist of Predator) nothing less than a legend like Marlon Brando.
