Samsung Galaxy S22 launch

It has long been rumored in the rumor mill, now it’s official – the Samsung Galaxy S22 series will be presented at the Unpacked event on February 8th! Tae Moon Roh – President of MX Business Samsung – published an op-ed in Samsung Newsroom talking about the next chapter in Samsung smartphones, the S22. This could get a new name in 2022.

  • The Samsung Galaxy S22 will be officially launched on February 8, 2022.
  • Tae Moon Roh confirmed previous assumptions.
  • Possible name change of the largest model?

So far it was just rumors, but now it’s official: The new Samsung Galaxy S series will be presented at the Unpacked event on February 8th. TM Roh published an editorial on the South Koreans’ website in which he talks about the development of Samsung smartphones. He explains that Samsung will always try to be a step ahead of their time. He describes the previous development of Samsung smartphones as a “breaking of the rules in smartphone history”.

The president of Samsung’s mobile division promises that customers have been listened to in the development of the new Samsung flagship. So it was a surprise for many that no Galaxy Note series was released last year. In addition, many customers have
positive feedback on the S-Pen of the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Along with a small hint from TM Rohs, these statements strongly suggest that a rumored smartphone nomenclature could be true.

Will the Galaxy Ultra become the Galaxy Note?

The entire editorial is riddled with puns alluding to the Galaxy Note. Moon speaks of past breaches of the rules and above all mentions the Note, which appeared in 2011 with a large display. By the standards of the time, it was actually quite bulky with its 5.3 inch display. Again and again he uses variations of the word “note”, which leaves the question open: will the new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra possibly not be called Ultra at all?

At Unpacked in February 2022, we’ll introduce you to the most noteworthy S series device we’ve ever created. – TM Moon, President & Head of MX Business, Samsung Electronics

Furthermore, Moon mentions some features that we could expect in the new Galaxy. We should be able to “own the night” and take the best photos and videos possible with a smartphone. In order to “dominate the day”, the S22 should have the necessary tools and the corresponding speed that you won’t find in any other smartphone. These are certainly references to the Exynos 2200 processor. In addition, after the Note from 2011 and the Galaxy Fold Z from 2019, Samsung now wants to write smartphone history again.
