Last June 15, it was always me premiered in the catalog of Disney+. The story follows Lupe, a young Mexican woman who travels to Colombia for the funeral of his father, a famous singer known as El Pharaoh. Set in Cartagena, the series shows us the best of the Colombian Caribbean, as well as a romantic and mystery narrative that is connected through music.
“Lupe is a Mexican girl whose life takes an unexpected turn when she learns of the death of her father, El Faraón –Colombia’s top musical star–, and decides to leave her native Mexico behind to travel to Cartagena and attend the funeral. She quickly realizes that nothing is what it seems and she decides to enroll in a musical contest to be close to her father’s environment and investigate her suspicious death, “says the official description.
Meet the main cast behind it was always me
Carol Sevillethe remembered actress of I am Lunabrings Lupe to lifethe protagonist of it was always me characterized by his determination, bravery and heart of gold. She is the daughter of El Pharaoh, a music idol in Colombia, a country with which she only creates a connection now, because she was born and raised in Mexico, where her mother, Cecilia, lives. She is a journalism student, but, in turn, she has a great talent for singing. She is also fearless and not afraid to find out what goes on behind the art scene where her father worked for many years.
Secondly, pipe good plays Noah, a relaxed and fun boy who dreams of dedicating himself to music, but ended up working as El Faraón’s personal assistant. After his death, he assumes the mission of discovering who is guilty of his murder and, in the process of his investigation, he falls in love with Lupe.
Christian Tappan is the pharaoh, whose real name is Silvestre Díaz, who was born in a small coastal fishing village in Colombia. Despite growing up in a humble origin, he feels very close to music and becomes a representative image of the emotions, sorrows and joys of his country through the typical rhythms of his native region.
Jose Julian Gaviria is Pipe, the other son of El Pharaoh and Lupe’s half brother. Unlike her, he is spoiled, capricious and very arrogant, in addition to never having been too close to her father no matter how much he tried to get closer to this man beyond her idol facet. Antonio Sanint acts under the role of Lucas Martin, the first representative and partner of the musician until before his death, his presence immediately arouses suspicion because he is manipulative and ambitious. In the last years of his life, Díaz had more than one argument with him.
Adriana Romero is Wendy, the caretaker and a kind of right hand of El Pharaoh. She is noted for being helpful, dedicated, and always cheerful when she deals with people. She met Lupe when she was just a newborn and she is very fond of the young woman and, therefore, she is always very distrustful of Noah when they both start to be very close.
simon savi plays Charly, Pipe’s friend who was born in a very privileged environment, but lacking in affection. For him, meeting the son of El Pharaoh is synonymous with a rise to fame. Finally, Juliana Velasquez puts himself in the shoes of Angiea creative and talented girl who sometimes takes her generosity to the extreme, to the point of submitting to what others want.
