iPhone 14 Pro: the camera module on the back would be thicker

iPhone 14 Pro

The iPhone 14 series will not be released until the second half. But the next high-end smartphones are already causing a lot of ink to flow. Currently, many features of the future iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have already leaked on the web.

Regarding the design, these devices would no longer have a notch, since Apple would place the camera as well as the Face ID sensors on punches (in the plural) on the facade. Today, this is corroborated by a tweet from Max Weinbach, a source of leaks which is very regularly relayed by the media.

In this tweet, the journalist shares alleged drawings of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. These drawings show a design quite close to what has been shared by other sources (with the punches on the front). But what makes the post interesting is that these drawings also include the dimensions of the two devices:

  • 147.46 x 71.45 x 7.85mm for iPhone 14 Pro
  • and 160.7 x 77.58 x 7.85mm for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Overall, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will have dimensions quite close to those of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. However, they will not be identical. What especially attracts attention is that according to the drawings shared by Max Weinbach, Apple would provide an increase in thickness at the level of the camera.

Indeed, while on the iPhone 13 Pro Max, this model exceeded by 3.60 mm, on the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, there would be an overrun of 4.17 mm. Of course, at the moment, this is just a rumor. But in any case, as far as design is concerned, a camera model that is too protruding could displease some people.

iPhone 14: you may fall for the “Pro” models

In terms of features, Apple should put the package on these “Pro” models. Indeed, according to other sources, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max would have a main photo sensor of 48 megapixels, as well as an 8 GB RAM memory.

In addition, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max may use a different processor than the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max (no more “Mini” model). According to the latest rumors, Apple could indeed equip the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max with the same A15 chip as the iPhone 13. However, to avoid controversy, the firm would rename this chip “A16”. For their part, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max would use a more powerful chip, which Apple could call “A16 Pro”.

It seemed insane. But yet, this rumor is corroborated by Mark Gurman, Bloomberg journalist, and one of the most reliable sources of “leaks” concerning Apple products. According to him, signs were already visible in 2021. Indeed, on the iPhone 13 series, the standard model and the iPhone 13 mini do not use exactly the same chip as the iPhone 13 Pro. While the A15 chip in the iPhone 13 has 4 GPU cores, that of the iPhone 13 Pro has 5.
