iPhone 14 Pro is almost 15% faster than iPhone 13 Pro Max in new test

After an unsatisfactory result, the iPhone 14 Pro leaked back into the Geekbench 5 database, this time showing a more marked evolution compared to its predecessor. With more than 5,000 points in the multi-core test, the device is almost 15% faster than the iPhone 13 Pro Max, and indicates the difference we will see between the Pro series and this year’s standard models.

Under the temporary codename “iPhone 15.2”, the iPhone 14 Pro managed to reach 1,887 points in single-core and 5,455 points in multi-core, taking the position of the most powerful smartphone to pass by Geekbench. In front of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which hits 1,728 points with one core and 4,790 points with all cores, the device is about 10% and 14% higher, respectively.

These are expected advances from one generation to the next, but especially positive as they go against the dismal result found previously, in which the Cupertino giant’s launch proved to be 5% lower than its predecessor.

One of the most curious points arises when the new result is compared with the test leaked last week, starring the “iPhone 15.3” — according to information posted by the Twitter user. siguza, while the 15.2 is in fact the iPhone 14 Pro, the 15.3 refers to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. In theory, the more robust model should deliver better results, especially given the larger space available for heat dissipation.

That said, as discussed at the time the first result was found, the noticeable difference could come from prolonged heating, which is common after multiple rounds of testing, or the lack of optimizations that would be implemented until the family’s release. Regardless, today’s leak paints a brighter picture for the A16 Bionic chip, even if the platform shows modest evolution.

Result indicates differences between iPhone 14 and 14 Pro

Another important issue indicated by the test is the possible difference that we will see between the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus compared to the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. This year, Apple took another step to separate the two series of cell phones by limiting the unprecedented chip to Pro devices, while traditional models received the most complete version of the A15 Bionic, the previous generation chipset, present in the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

If they don’t bring blatant improvements in cooling, or limit the platform too much, both base devices should offer a level of performance similar to the advanced variants of the iPhone 13 Pro line, thus being about 14% lower than the members of the iPhone 14 Pro series.

If on the one hand this can be a good sign for those who do not intend to invest a lot of money in the most premium phones, on the other it can be a problem for those who expected more changes, and even for Apple itself.

As it is almost identical to the iPhone 13 line, the iPhone 14 gives no reason for users of older devices to upgrade and, in fact, may encourage some users to look for offers on the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, which are superior in basically all of them. aspects and, more importantly, with similar prices in certain offers – a point that is already reflected in the low sales registered by analysts.

The iPhone 14 family is on pre-order abroad, with availability scheduled for this Friday, September 16. The devices already have prices in Brazil, which start from R$7,599 and reach a frightening R$14,499, but there is still no date for their debut here, especially given the conflicts between the company and the Ministry of Justice.
