The iPhone 13 Pro Max is a little faster

This is precisely a speed test that the PhoneBuff channel posted on YouTube. The exercise consists in chaining the openings of applications or launching of tasks, and to see which device was the fastest to carry out the pre-established series.

In the first round, we see that the iPhone 13 Pro Max completes the protocol in 1 minute and 59 seconds. The Pixel 6 Pro is right behind him: it’s only four seconds slower, with a score of 2 minutes and 3 seconds.

In detail, the Pixel 6 Pro was faster at launching most games and apps, but wasted a lot of time on the iPhone on just one task: video exporting.

The 12 GB of RAM fails to tell the difference

Then comes the second round, which aims to measure the influence of RAM on performance, given that the applications have already been opened for the first time. As a reminder, the Pixel 6 Pro has 12 GB of RAM, against 6 GB for the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

And it is again Apple’s mobile which emerges as the winner of the competition, six seconds ahead. But Google’s latest flagship clearly did not look pale, and it is encouraging to see such results for a first custom chip. Also, not everyone does video export. By removing this task from the protocol, we get more or less a tie.
