Instagram works to censor nudity in direct messages

A new function is under development within the application of Instagramwhich will allow the users are protected against potential direct messages that contain images of naked and that you will need the consent of the person to be able to see them.

The expert in reverse engineering and application development, Alessandro Paluzzi, posted on his Twitter account the details of what this new feature within the social network which, for the time being, has not been accessed by regular users of the platform.

“Instagram is working on nudity protection”, indicated the expert, who also attached a screenshot in which they could see the new functions of this features.

According to what can be seen in the image, these will be some of the features that the protection established by Instagram for users will have:

Instagram indicates that it is possible safely detect and cover nudity content that could potentially contain nudity. This capability is on the devices, so you don’t need the image to be analyzed on servers outside of the smartphones. In addition, it reminds users that the social network cannot access the images that are sent.

As long as users don’t click on the photos, it’s each one who chooses what photos to see or not. The material that is sent and that is censored by Instagram, like the photos, they will remain covered and in order to see them there must be the consent of the people.

Instagram indicates that users will be able to learn, through security advicehow to stay safe in case they are dealing with cases that are related to photographs or material of this type.

Additionally, because this feature relies on users’ consent to receive this type of content within their direct messages, it is possible turn on or off this function at any time.

Against bullying on social media

Meta’s social network, Instagram, has also improved its processes to prevent minors and children who could use its platform from being exposed to situations of harassment or from having access to sensitive content that is not suitable for them.

In the specific case of users of the platform with less than 16 years, Instagram will activate the ‘Less’ option by default, so that the scope of the restrictions to those particular accounts is higher.

In addition, a space called Center for Familiesin which parents will be able to keep track of their children’s accounts minors as long as you have your consent. In this way they can have access to the accounts they follow and also those who follow them.

This Center will also serve to learn about the consumption habits of content that the child or young person has within the social network and records the time spent interacting with publications in Instagram.

In order to protect young people, if one report to an account, the father or mother of the family will receive a notification indicating that their child has made a report. This also happens when a publication in the child’s profile.
