Instagram shut down Pornhub account over child porn allegations

Instagram suspended porn site account pornhub on your social platform. I had 13.1 million followers and more than 6,200 publications.

The move comes a month after Visa and MasterCard cut off the payment privileges of TrafficJunky, the advertising arm of Pornhub’s parent company MindGeek.

That followed a federal court ruling in July that denied Visa’s request to be removed from a case suing MindGeek for allegedly distributing child pornography and alleging that Visa knowingly facilitated MindGeek’s ability to to monetize illegal content.

On its Instagram account, Pornhub shared non-pornographic videos and images. However, it had “directly promoted pornography” and featured videos such as”Next Career Goal” that encouraged people to become porn performers, according to Dawn Hawkins, executive director of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation.

“Instagram is bravely choosing to no longer partner with Pornhub, and it’s time for all corporate entities follow their lead,” Hawkins said.

The account of Twitter from pornhub (3.4 million followers) remains active, as does its official channel Youtube (882,000 subscribers), where he shares “SFW” video content (safe for work, that is, it can be viewed anywhere, without pornography).

MindGeek, the company of discord

In June, MindGeek CEO Feras Antoon and COO David Tassillo they resigned The Montreal, Quebec-based company also laid off an unknown number of employees.

The plaintiff in the case against MindGeek that names Visa as a defendant is Serena Fleites, who, when she was 13, said her then-boyfriend pressured her to make a sexually explicit video, which she allegedly uploaded to Pornhub without your knowledge or consent.

Fleites is one of the most two dozen individual plaintiffs who last year sued Pornhub and MindGeek, alleging exploitation and monetization of child pornography, rape videos, trafficked content and stolen content.

In a previous statement, MindGeek said that it has “zero tolerance with the publication of illegal content on its platforms, and has instituted the most comprehensive security measures in the history of the user-generated platform. Any suggestion that MindGeek is not serious about removing illegal material is categorically untrue.”

The company says it has banned uploads from anyone who hasn’t presented a government-issued ID that passes third-party verification and removed the ability to download free content

It has also integrated various content moderation tools and instituted fingerprinting of all videos that violate its policies prohibiting non-consensual content and child sexually abusive material (CSAM) to help prevent removed videos from becoming to post.

MindGeek also says it has expanded its workforce and moderation processes, partnering with dozens of organizations. non-profit worldwide.
