Instagram: Now you can add more links to your bio

Instagram brings a new option to make Reels with friends

Instagram announced this Tuesday (18) that it will now be possible to add more than one link to the profile bio. Previously, each user was limited to linking only one address to their account and had to use other “link in bio” tools such as Linktree and Beacons.

  • With the new feature, you can add up to five links to your Instagram bio.
  • The news was announced by Mark Zuckerberg on his broadcast channel, which allows creators to send messages to each other in a community.
  • The company said that the change is one of the main requests among the content creators of the social network.
  • It also shows Instagram’s failure to adapt to user demands: Linktree and other link aggregator mechanisms emerged from the limitations of social media.
  • Instagram’s previous decision not to allow more than one address was because the company believed that the links would direct users off the platform, rather than wasting time and engagement on the network.

Instagram wasn’t the only one

Currently, TikTok also limits clickable links in users’ bios. Only those with a business account can be redirected outside of the app, making it difficult for creators to forward followers elsewhere on the web.

Instagram’s decision comes precisely at a time when the social network competes with TikTok, and the new feature could become a competitive advantage. Users of the rival already complain about the strict limitations and the Meta platform may represent a way out, attracting the creators there.
