The social network Instagram began the progressive implementation of a function that allows users to share content from the platform through QR codes. This means that posts, locations, and reels can also be shared that way.
QR codes are not a new function within the platform since they were already used, since August 2020, to share only instagram profiles quickly and without using the social network search engine.
With the extension of the scope of the codes, which were initially only available for companies, users will be able to generate them from the three-dot menu (available in profiles, posts, reels and locations) of the mobile version of the application.
To create the QR code on the desktop version of Instagram, you have to add ‘/qr’ at the end of the url (instagram.com/infobae/qr).
According to a spokeswoman for Meta, the parent company of Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, among other platforms, this new function of the social network seeks to “make it easier for people and businesses to share specific content.”
Photos using two cameras
An update that is also gradually being added to the list of Instagram features is that of taking photos with the cell phone using the front and rear cameras of the devices.
This function, called ‘Dual’ appears in devices iOS and Android in the side toolbar when the user is about to record a story, be it a photo or video. The concept, new to Instagram, is very similar to that used by a rival app called BeReal.
According to the journalist Paris Martineau, the similarity between the Dual functionality and the BeReal photography interface is very similar.
The BeReal application is similar to Instagram, with the difference that it is not possible to post as many times as you want, but it is the social network itself that notifies you once a day when you have to do it. Furthermore, you only have two chances to take a photo with both cameras in a period of time less than two minutes.
In this way, the social network encourages “being real” and showing oneself as one is without filters (which are not available in this application). Once the publication is done, users will be able to access the feed where the photos of their contacts are located.
Meta is driving the production of short video content to directly compete with TikTok, which grows in audience. That is why the functionality of creating a single reel that can be shared on Facebook and Instagram.
In this way, the publication of the same content at different times is avoided, time is saved due to simultaneous publication, and they are the facebook memories and Archived Instagram Stories, which can be used to automatically generate a new unique Reel.
Among other features, Instagram has also given users the ability to react to stories not only with default emojis, but also with custom avatars created within the application.
