What do we already know about Indiana Jones 5?
When does Indiana Jones 5 release?
Despite not having an official title yet, The premiere date of the new film in the franchise has already been announced: June 30, 2023🇧🇷 The date would have been chosen in order to close exactly 15 years since the last feature of the explorer, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008).
What is the plot of Indiana Jones 5?
Recently, some details about the film surfaced online and confirmed some fan theories, who were eager for news. We know, for example, that Jones will face the Nazis once again, as well as in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and The Last Crusade (1989).
As the villains are already marked figures in the films of the saga, the idea was to bring them back for one last battle, in which the hero can defeat them once and for all.
It was also revealed that Indiana Jones 5 will be set during the 1969 space race, which generated conflicts between the United States and Russia. That is, 12 years after the events of The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which took place in 1957.
Another narrative detail that we discovered is that the opening scene of the production will be a tribute (unprecedented) to the other films in the franchise and will bring a lot of adrenaline to the public before the new story begins.

Harrison Ford will be rejuvenated
Another fan question was: how will Harrison Ford’s age be treated in Indiana Jones 5? According to Mangold, the film was written with adaptations in mind for Ford’s reality.
“It was really important for me to understand how to make a movie about a hero who is retiring. The challenges I brought up about Indy’s age were things that weren’t being addressed in the early material. There were ‘old man jokes,’ but the material itself wasn’t about that. For me, whatever your biggest difficulty is, you need to go towards it. If you pretend it doesn’t exist, you end up getting signals all along the way,” said the director.
In addition to this, in the film’s opening scene, which will show Ford on an adventure from the past through a flashback, a rejuvenation technology will be used, called ILM (Industrial Light & Magic). The software promises to bring the character back to the initial film trilogy.
one last goodbye
In addition to all of that, it’s important to remember that Indiana Jones 5 will also serve as Ford’s farewell to the saga. So, in addition to lots of action and adventure, the film will be filled with more emotional scenes and tributes, which should close the historian’s cycle once and for all🇧🇷
“It would be nice to see a [filme] in which Indiana Jones is at the end of its journey,” said the actor after The Kingdom of the Crystal Skullindicating that he did, in fact, want to make a farewell film that really felt like this.
Indiana Jones Future
After the release of Indiana Jones 5, it remains to be seen if a new actor will be cast to live the professor or if the film franchise will take a break. What has already been speculated, however, is that Disney+ would be planning a series about Jones. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
