To find out if it’s a victim you can pay attention to some features and perform actions to recover the account. For example, the easiest way to know someone else took the account is if the profile cannot be accessed after trying to log in with the same password and username. This is even more noticeable when you cannot access even though you were logged in on the device.
Although it cannot be confirmed 100% that the account has been hacked, not being able to access with the usual information is an alert that probably someone else has it under their control and changed the password.

The first thing you’ll want to do in this situation is to recover your account, so here are a few steps to do just that. It should be noted that some may not be available, as it varies in each situation, so it is recommended to try each one.

Check if there is an Instagram message in the associated email
If you received an email from [email protected] stating that the email address was changed, you can undo this change by selecting cancel the change in the message. To request a login link the following steps must be followed. These serve to confirm that the account belongs to you.
– From the login screen, select Get help signing in (Android) or Did you forget your password? (iPhones).

If you do not know the username, email address or phone number linked to the account, you can select the option Do you need more help? below the button Following and follow the instructions on the screen.

– Select the email address or phone number, and then touch Send login link.
– Click the login link in the email or text message (SMS) and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
It can also request help or a security code from Instagram. This is useful in case the account could not be recovered using the login link sent by the social network. It can be requested on the login screen, in the section of Get help signing in located under Log in (Android) or Do you need more help? under Send login link (iOS) and follow the steps it indicates.

If assistance was requested to access an account without photos of oneself, an email should be received from Meta autoresponder to verify identity, so it will be necessary to provide the email address or phone number with which you registered. In other cases, a video selfie will be requested, so you only have to be aware of the platform’s request.
