How to improve cell signal

Sometimes, there may be difficulties in achieving a good signal on the mobile. This can happen either when connected to the data system or to the WiFi network. There are different factors that can hinder the signal the team receives. Then, some strategies that could help solve this problem.

1. Move to places with lower concentration

It is possible that the cell phone does not receive a good signal if the user is in areas where there are many users because this can congest data transit. In these cases, it is better to try to move away, even if it is only a few meters, towards places with less density of buildings or people.

2. Find a window or outdoor space

Sometimes, in very closed spaces, full of different elements that can act as obstacles (walls or other devices) it is possible that there is interference in the signal; That’s why it’s important to find a window, open space, or higher ground to prevent obstructions from affecting equipment operation.

3. Keep the mobile charged

It is important that the cell phone has a charge of at least 30% or more since a low battery could affect the correct performance of the equipment.

4. Review mobile network settings

Sometimes the failure can occur because the mobile network configuration is inadequate. To verify this information you have to enter the settings menu then go to Connections/Mobile Networks.

Once the information is found, call the mobile service provider to verify if the setting that is entered is correct or if it is necessary to make any changes.

5. Remove the cover from the equipment

The cell phone case in some cases can interfere with the signal. To test if this is the problem that is affecting the operation of the equipment, remove it and test if this improves the reception.

6. Restart the computer

As with other electronic equipment, sometimes troubleshooting can simply be done by simply turning the equipment off and on or restarting it. Perform this action and check if the issue is resolved.

Improve Wi-Fi signal

Sometimes, what may be failing is the router’s WiFi signal. Here are some factors to optimize this aspect:

1. Choose the right band

One of the reasons WiFi can be slow is because the user is connected on the wrong band. What does this mean? The WiFi of most routers creates two networks in two networks, one in 2.4 GHz and another in 5 GHz. The 2.4 GHz has a longer wavelength, which gives it more range. Anyway, its speed is lower. In contrast, the 5 GHz has less range, but offers higher speed. Taking into account, choosing which may be the best option according to the user’s need.

2. Repeaters and WiFi mesh

The repeaters receive the signal and forward it. This helps to reach different areas with greater intensity but with a lower quality than what would happen if we were close to the router. This system can be used when there are obstacles that attenuate the signal or when you have connected equipment on different floors.

However, there is a more effective system for these situations: WiFi mesh, which is made up of a router or main station and one or more satellites that connect to each other to improve network coverage.. WiFi mesh system makes intelligent managementsince it is able to connect devices to the best option they have at that moment.

In other words, a mesh or mesh system allows greater signal possibilities since, being flexible in nodes, they all work in such a way as to optimize the complete WiFi coverage, according to needs.

3. Configure the router securely

This will serve not only to prevent other people from using the network without permission, which can decrease the strength of the signal; but also to prevent any attacker from easily entering your computer and, for example, redirecting traffic and spoofing legitimate sites with fake versions.

In line with this it is suggested to update the password, enable WPA2 encryption (avoid using WEP and WPA) and disable Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
