House of the Dragon: What Happened During the 10 Year Time Jump?

After a very tense fifth episode and with strong conflicts in Rhaenyra and Laenor’s marriage, episode 6 of The Dragon’s House featured a 10-year time jump and a change of actresses.

Alicent is now played by Olivia Cooke, while the protagonist is played by Emma D’Arcy. However, these were not the only changes in the time jump of House of the Dragon and the political dynamics of the show are quite different.

5. Rhaenyra already had her children

the sixth episode of House of the Dragon it starts with the protagonist giving birth to Joffrey, but what we later discover is that he is, in fact, her third child.

The princess already had Jacaerys (the eldest) and Lucerys (the middle one) over the 10 years that passed in the time jump.

4. Strong has an affair with the princess

Speaking of Princess Targaryen’s children, we know that her marriage to Laenor is just a facade, seeing as he’s gay, but in the time jump, she and Strong developed a strong affair.

He became the Commander of the City Watch and is also the true father of Rhaenyra’s children. As they have similar characteristics to Harwin, such as brown hair, everyone knows that the case exists, but no one talks about it.

However, Sir Criston Cole explains this information and all the chaos is created in the episode.

3. Laena and Daemon got married

Political moves are common in the universe of House of the Dragon and Laena and Daemon’s marriage was another one, this time for the Targaryen to benefit from House Velaryon.

During the 10 year time jump, they had two girls and moved to the Pentos region to avoid conflict, which is slightly different from the books as they go there as the marriage was not consented to by the king.

2. King Viserys is almost dying

As we saw in episode 5 of The Dragon’s HouseKing Viserys’ health was pretty shaken, and even though he survived the time jump, we realize he won’t last much longer in the series.

In the sixth episode, he has lost almost all of his hair, is missing a forearm, and looks much older.

Before the time jump, Alicent had only given birth to Aegon and Helaena, but in the last episode, we saw that young Aemond was also born and is obsessed with dragons.

Speaking of Queen Alicent Hightower and her children, we find that Criston Cole has become a true protector of them over the last 10 years.
