“House of the Dragon”: Season 2 will have fewer episodes than the first

The second season of “ House of the Dragon ” will be shorter than the first. The continuation of the series will run over eight episodes – two less than the first season, which has ten. According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the decision to produce a reduced season is completely linked to the plot of the story and there is no connection with cost cuts – like the recent ones announced on HBO Max.

The television network has long-term plans for the series and is already planning more seasons, which are plausible justifications for producing shorter versions. A supposed third season of the series would already be projected, ensuring the extension of the story.

With the changes in programming and plot execution, the big battle that would take place in the second season should only be shown in the following season.

  • “House of the Dragon” is a spin-off story of “Game of Thrones” and is set nearly 200 years before the original;
  • The series is based on the book “Fire and Blood” by George RR Martin. In 2021, it became HBO’s most viewed and won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series, in the Drama category;
  • Initially, estimates were that the story would span three or four seasons, but the future is still uncertain.

“House of the Dragon” is available on the NOW streaming platform and on HBO Max. The series has a cast consisting of Emma D’arcy, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Eve Best, and Rhys Ifans, among others.
