Also, today Honor is an independent company that is not sanctioned by the United States. As a result, unlike Huawei, Honor can pre-install Google’s products and services on its products and, above all, Honor has no supply constraints while Huawei, for example, cannot equip its smartphones with chips. 5G.
Since freeing itself from US sanctions, Honor’s market share has grown steadily. And the brand that was best known for its affordable models is now attacking the premium segment.

In recent years, Huawei has always positioned itself as the king of photography. Moreover, although its market shares have collapsed, Huawei was still the world number one in photography, according to DXOMark, a few days ago.
But this week, Honor released the Honor Magic4 Ultimate, which overtook Huawei’s P50 Pro on the ranking of the best smartphone cameras.

Honor Magic4 Ultimate: a quadruple camera and a custom chip
Like most premium smartphones of 2022, the Honor Magic4 Ultimate uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. But for camera image processing, Honor equips this device with a custom chip. According to the manufacturer, this chip is at the heart of its system, and makes it possible to enhance the quality of the images.
In addition, Honor has also gone all out when it comes to sensors. The Honor Magic4 Ultimate has a set of four sensors:
- 50-megapixel wide camera with custom 8P lens
- A 64 megapixel ultra wide-angle
- A 64 megapixel telephoto lens
- 50-megapixel enhanced spectrum camera
It is, in essence, with this hardware that Honor managed to obtain an average of 146 points on the DXOMark test, or 2 points more than the Huawei smartphone. The laboratory found almost no fault with the Honor Magic4 Ultimate, but nevertheless reports a problem of instability on the videos, as well as a lack of brightness outdoors.
