2021 was the year of the return of Age of Empires ; after 16 years of absence , Age of Empires IV has finally brought a new chapter in the hands of fans, giving new life to one of the most famous RTS series ever.
AoE has always been a series focused on the PC world, but we have seen how Microsoft has begun to open the Xbox to this kind of titles, starting with the porting of Flight Simulator on its latest consoles . Even Age of Empires could soon receive the same treatment – as long desired – and land on Xbox; the latest rumors seem to confirm this without too many doubts.
To report it is the Twitter profile of Lumia Updates (they no longer follow the Lumia – obviously – but they are very precise on the news related to the Microsoft world ), which has spotted what appears to be a first test build of Age of Empires IV for Xbox dedicated to an internal channel of the Insider Hub.
The build name is ” XIP_CAR_JANUARY_2022 “, with the initials CAR indicating Cardinal (the code name of AoE IV) and the XIP that should refer to “Xbox Insider Preview”. This is the first time a Cardinal build has been joined by the XIP name, so the testing phase is likely to have just begun.
Age of Empires IV is a highly anticipated title also by Xbox users and it will be interesting to find out how the control system has been adapted to be fully enjoyed by the pad, even if we expect full mouse and keyboard support. We, therefore, look forward to seeing if there will soon be news in this regard directly from Microsoft.
