The application added the option to place a pronoun in each person’s profile.

The pronouns come to Instagram. The application added this identification option to use it in Spanish, since it was initially only available in English since mid-2021.

He, she and she will be the options that users will have to complement their profile and feel comfortable with the organization in their account. This pronoun will appear next to the name of the user chosen for the profile.

“We want to build a safe and welcoming environment for people in our community and we observed that pronouns were already included in different ways in the profile, such as in the username or in the description of the biography itself,” said the application of Goal.

The process to include this identification label is optional and if you want to do so, you must follow these steps:

1. Open Instagram.

2. Go to the profile by clicking on the photo at the bottom right.

3. Click on the ‘Edit profile’ option.

4. All the fields to complete will appear and one of them is called ‘Pronoun’, which is just below the username.

5. Write the one of our preference, choosing the Spanish language.

6. Accept the change and you’re done.

Within the panel to choose the pronoun, there are other language options such as English, Portuguese, German, French, Turkish and eight more. In addition, it allows you to show this information only to followers or to the whole world, adding one more privacy setting.

This field also gives the option to add more than one pronoun, which for some users may be an additional option to be satisfied with their profile identification.

Other news that came to Instagram

Before the end of the year, the application of Goal added several changes, adding more forms of interaction to users.

One of them is DM Notes, which is a new way to share thoughts and see what different friends are up to through short text messages. Users can leave a note to anyone who follows them or just to the list of Best Friends (Close Friends).

This will appear at the top of the inbox of the selected group of people for 24 hours. The responses that people make to these notes appear as direct messages in the inbox of the social network.

The option to invite friends to participate in the ‘Your turn’ sticker is also being tested. The idea is that more people participate with this option in the stories and share more memorable situations or moments.

Finally, collaborative Collections are being tested. This new feature makes it easy to organize and co-create collections of saved posts to share with friends, helping users of the social network share common interests. They can find all the collections in the shared media section of the chat rooms.
