Google is testing a new advertising interface in the Play Store. In version 33.0.17-21 of the app store, when you click on the search bar, instead of the keyboard and search history, three recommended programs, such as games, pop up. When you click on the offers, the Play Store jumps to the page of the given application, the history and the search help only appear when you start typing something – writes the first person to announce the update 9to5Google.
So far, the paper has not received an answer as to whether the advertised applications are paid ads or suggestions based on search history and downloaded programs. None of the three programs shown in the picture appear among the personal offers containing paid ads on the main page, but at the same time, their developers often advertise them in other places. According to the description of the latest November Google Play system update, it includes “new features for discovering apps and games”, this may mean changing the search interface in the Play Store.
So far, the Play Store has only provided advertisements among the results in the search engine, marking them with an advertisement label, but the iOS App Store, for example, also displays such advertisements in the search engine.
