the technology company google tis working on developing a technology that could improve the quality of photographs taken in environments with poor light and eliminate the noise generated in them, which give a “grainy” appearance to the images.

Google Research introduced this system, known as RawNeRFat the “Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition” (CVPR) conference, a major computing event that took place in June 2022 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

What is RawNeRF?

This process is based on the application of a technology called neural radiation fields (NeRF), capable of using algorithms to process a 2D image and, progressively after ‘learning’ from it, improve it to achieve a more suitable result that is closer to its appearance in 3D reality.

Google’s idea is to combine the technology of NeRF and use the RAW images (highest quality photos) that can be captured by the cameras of the mobile devicesto create a much clearer scene, without the noise caused by the lack of lighting sometimes when taking a picture.

According to the company, RAWNeRF will allow to recover hidden details behind the grainy appearance of low-light photos that haven’t been processed and can’t be seen even when swiping image by an editing program.

The technology of Google It is still under development, so its future scope and when the results could be available in products such as cameras or smartphones are not yet known.

An AI available to the public

A technological advancement of Google that can be accessed is the Artificial intelligence known as LaMDA 2with which users of Android devices can interact through an application called ‘AI Test Kitchen‘.

For the moment, the early access is open to all users in the United States who register with a form to participate and it is hoped that, at some point, Google will allow anyone to chat with LaMDA 2 through the application.

According to Google, tests with Artificial Intelligence have been carried out for the last year and improvements in the quality of responses have been recorded. However, to push further LaMDA 2 a series of “adversarial tests to find additional flaws in the model” was initiated by experts stress testing a system.

The return of Google Reader

In addition to these innovations, Google is also working on the return of a function with similar characteristics to GoogleReaderwhich was eliminated by the company in 2013 and whose objective was to keep users informed about news published on the websites they followed from the Google Chrome browser.

Appearance of Google Reader in its desktop version.

However, this function would not have the same name, although some Internet sites speculate that it could reach the public under the name of Google Feed, since this time it would be presented as a sidebar.

Some users of ChromeOS 106 have stated that they found this option in the panel of their browser, which shows a button called “Follow site” with which the order would be given to Google to start showing the latest publications of a particular medium or blog, depending on the case.
