Google Debunks Rumors It Will Shut Down Stadia, Its Cloud Gaming Platform

Google reacted to the rumors and denied that it will shut down Stadia, its cloud gaming platform. The confirmation was given last Friday (29) through its official profile on Twitter, in response to a user who questioned the alleged initiative of big tech.

Speculation came from unknown users in a private Facebook group. The individuals identified themselves as Google’s “inside sources” and argued that Stadia would not have its services transferred to a new platform. The company refuted the rumors stating that continues to work to expand its availability of games.

“Stadia will not be disabled. Rest assured that we are always working to bring more games to the platform and to Stadia Pro.”

Rumors started on Meta’s social network suggested that Google would “kill” Stadia in September after nearly three years since its launch. Users would receive notices between 30 and 60 days prior to deactivation of the platform and subscriptions valid for post-closure periods would be refunded.

Much to fans’ relief, the search giant has no plans to end its game-streaming platform that offers access to multiple titles through Google Chrome, Android TV, Chromecast Ultra, or the web app on iOS.

The fact is that the current position of the service is not enviable. Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce NOW are some of the dominant platforms in this area, and the strong investment in Amazon Luna threatens the growth of Google Stadia, but the expectation is that big secretly prepared news will be announced in the future.
