However, what most caught the attention of those who were watching ended up not being the award itself, but Murphy’s speech, who did not miss the opportunity to make a joke involving an emblematic case in the world of film and television awards. We’re talking, of course, about Will Smith’s slapping Chris Rock during the 2022 Oscars.

In his speech, the comedian began by thanking the Golden Globe producers, his family, friends and team. In the end, he revealed a “map” to success, longevity and peace, which is as follows: “Pay your taxes, mind your own business and keep the name of Will Smith’s wife out of your mouth!”

The last part of the actor’s advice refers to what Will Smith said to Chris Rock after going on stage at the Oscars and slapping his colleague. Remembering that, moments before, Rock had mentioned Smith’s wife, Jada Smith, in a joke in which he made fun of the fact that the girl was bald. He didn’t know, however, that Jada was facing a disease called Alopecia, which causes hair loss.

In addition to Eddie Murphy, they have already received the award Jane Fonda (2021), Tom Hanks (2020), Jeff Bridges (2019), Oprah Winfrey (2018), Meryl Streep (2017) and Denzel Washington (2016).
