In December 2019, director and screenwriter Rian Johnson released the noir film Knives Out in theaterss. The film deals with the mysterious death of the millionaire patriarch of a large and eccentric family. The family hires Detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, to investigate what happened.
It didn’t take long for the feature to become an audience and critical success, even being nominated for several awards, including the Oscar 2020 in the category of Best Original Screenplay. So, in March 2021, Rian Johnson struck a deal with Netflix to produce two more sequels to the phenomenon that brought the Agatha Christie-style mystery back into the spotlight.

Glass Onion continues the success of its predecessor
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery opened in advance in 600 theaters across the United States from November 23 to 29, 2022. this short window of exhibition, on December 23, the film arrived in the Netflix catalog for the whole world to see.
With the return of detective Benoit Blanc, the mystery now follows a billionaire who invites his friends to spend a weekend on an island in Greece. In this place, the relationships between the members of the group and the trust they place in each other will be put to the test.
Then, 28 days after its premiere, the streaming giant announced on its official website that the sequel starring Detective Blanc became the 4th most watched movie in the history of the platform, being viewed for 273,200,000 hours. The feature is behind Red Alert (the most watched of all, with 364,020,000 hours watched), Don’t Look Up and Bird Box.

Rian Johnson has confirmed that he is writing the third Detective Blanc film, but no further details have yet been released regarding the synopsis, cast and release date.
