George RR Martin confirms Game of Thrones spinoff series focused on Jon Snow

For better or worse, Game of Thrones was a milestone in the television industry, showing that it was possible to make high-budget series and opening up a range of new possibilities.

Since the end of the series, we knew that HBO was interested in exploring more of the franchise created by George RR Martin, but in addition to the upcoming House of the Dragon, we will also have a new series focused on Jon Snow.

A few days ago, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that HBO was developing a series focused on Jon Snow, the iconic Game of Thrones character, who became the protagonist of the plot and main player in the fight against the Night King and his white walkers.

This week, George RR Martin decided to comment on this new series and confirmed that it is indeed being developed, in addition to giving more details about the project.

Yes, there is a Jon Snow series in development. The Hollywood Reporter’s story was largely correct.

Te working title for this new series is SNOW.

There are four live-action series that are successors to Game of Thrones in development at HBO. Ten Thousand Ships, the series by Nymeria, which is being directed by Amanda Segel. Mar de Cobras, known as Nove Viagens, with Bruno Heller. And the Dunk & Egg series, The Walking Knight or Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, with Steve Conrad on the screenplay.

SNOW has been in development for almost as long as the other three, but for some reason it was never announced or leaked.

It seems that Emilia Clarke already mentioned that Snow was Kit Harrington’s idea in a recent interview. So that part leaked. Yes, it was Kit Harrington who brought the idea to us. I can’t name the writers or showrunners as this hasn’t been released yet…but Kit brought them in too, his own crew, and they’re amazing.

In the post, Martin reveals that he is involved in all the series mentioned by him, as well as the animations based on the franchise.

The curious part is that Emilia Clarke is on top of the production details. In Game of Thrones, Clarke played Daenerys Targaryen, another major character who ended her story murdered by Jon Snow himself. Will we see her return in the spinoff series, if only through flashbacks?

We still don’t know if all the series will actually be produced, as the networks only approve the production after the pilot episode and, at the moment, Martin confirmed that all are still in the script writing phase.

But what about you, do you think this Jon Snow series is a good idea?
