Galaxy S23: Samsung should keep Galaxy S22 screen, camera, design and battery

A new post by the trusted informant Ice Universe points out that the new Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus may not be that different from the current Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, and anyone expecting big changes will be disappointed with the debut of the simplest duo in Samsung’s top-of-the-line trio for next year.

According to the rumor, the aforementioned models will have the same design as the current generation, with the same side frame, in addition to “same screen, same sensor, same camera” and “similar battery”. The only big news related to the S23 and S23 Plus would be for the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

Such a processor is in development with 4nm lithography, and thanks to advances over the 5nm lithography of the 8 Plus Gen 1 and greater efforts by Qualcomm to increase energy efficiency, we expect high performance and longer battery life — even if Samsung reuses the same battery cells as the S22 and S22 Plus.

Galaxy S23 Ultra with less curves

The informant also points out that the side frame of the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be wider and, with that, the curvature of the rear and front glass will be reduced, offering a straighter smartphone with an almost flat screen.

So far we know that one of the main novelties related to the S23 Ultra will be the new main sensor with a resolution of 200 MP with exclusive Hexa²Pixel technology and, like the S23 and S23 Plus, the smartphone should repeat the design of the current generation.

Samsung’s entire lineup of high-end smartphones will ditch the Exynos chips this year and adopt the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in every region it sells. More details related to the Galaxy S23 series are expected to emerge soon as its launch is scheduled for the first quarter of next year.
