A few years ago, Samsung only launched one flagship per year. But today, the Korean giant offers series, consisting of several models.
On the Galaxy S22 series, for example, we have the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S22 Plus, as well as the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The base model is the S22, which is also the cheapest. The Galaxy S22 Plus, which has a larger screen, is more expensive. And the Galaxy S22 Ultra is the ultra high-end model, with a very high price but also a better technical sheet.
Logic dictates that the best model of the Galaxy S22 series is the S22 Ultra. And if we compare the technical sheets, whether at the level of the screen, the camera or other elements, this is confirmed. On the other hand, the S22 Ultra is equipped with the S Pen stylus, while the S22 and S22 Plus do not have this accessory.
The S22 and S22 Plus beat the S22 Ultra in one area
However, there is one area where the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus are better smartphones than the Galaxy S22 Ultra: slow motion videos!
By carefully reading the data sheets page for these three models on the Samsung site, the very watchful eye of the Android Authority site noticed that the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus “actually outperform the Ultra model by offering native super slow motion video recording at 960 fps. »
More exactly, here is what we read on the Samsung site:
“On the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus, users can record approximately 0.5 seconds of video captured at 960 fps with approximately 16 seconds of playback. On the Galaxy S22 Ultra, users can record approximately 1 second of video captured at 480 fps and digitally enhance video at 960 fps with approximately 32 seconds of playback. »
According to our colleagues at Sammobile, the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s inability to shoot slow-motion video at 960 fps is likely due to hardware limitations.
So, is the Galaxy S22 finally a better smartphone than the Galaxy S22 Ultra which costs a real fortune? Not at all. Overall, the spec sheet of the Ultra model is superior to that of the S22 or S22 plus.
And slow motion video is a niche feature. Still, if you use this one regularly, you might be frustrated if you buy a Galaxy S22 Ultra, knowing that the cheaper model can shoot better quality slow motion videos.
