For this year we still expect the Galaxy S21 FE from Samsung. Rumors now lead to fears that Samsung could cancel the release of the Fan Edition smartphone.
- According to DDaily, Samsung canceled the unpacked event in October
- The company is considering completely canceling the release of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
- The reasons given are the shortage of chips and the success of the Galaxy Z Flip 3
We have known for a long time that, unlike in previous years, there will be no new model in the Samsung Galaxy Note series this fall. A hard blow for fans of the business smartphone, but one that Samsung believes it can compensate for. On the one hand by the recent launch of the new foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 – and on the other hand by the Galaxy S21 in the Fan Edition!
Galaxy S21 FE put on hold
We originally expected that Samsung would show the S21 FE on the side of the foldable smartphones. Most recently it was said that a Galaxy Unpacked event would take place in October, where we would be presented with the Fan Edition. The message comes from South Korea that Samsung has already canceled this event – and that it is also being considered to completely cancel the publication of the smartphone!
DDaily refers to an interview by a Samsung official. There are two reasons for this: Samsung is also suffering from the current shortage of chips, after all, the coveted Snapdragon 888 should be used in the Galaxy S21 FE. On the other hand – and this is good news for Samsung – the Galaxy Z Flip 3 (test) apparently sells like sliced bread, so you want to concentrate on the foldable first.
Basically, both reasons are related, because if you had to expand the available capacities of the Snapdragon 888 to an additional smartphone, Samsung would run the risk of bottlenecks in the well-selling Galaxy Z Flip 3.
A later release this year also seems pretty nonsensical: Why introduce a Galaxy S21 FE in November or even December when we are already getting to know the Galaxy S22 in January? So it is a shame that the popular Galaxy S20 FE does not have a successor, but it is absolutely understandable.
What are your thoughts on that? Did you look forward to the Galaxy S21 FE Fan Edition? Do you understand if Samsung should actually decide that way? Write us in the comments!
