Chapter 3 of Fortnite introduced us to a whole new, unseen side of the map. The new scenario has its weather conditions and a day and night cycle, which all players experience. This change has given rise to much speculation.
Many loopers have lost track of time after crashing on the island and are wondering how long a day is in Chapter 3. Time is of the essence in Fortnite, just like in real life. Fortnite it follows its unique cycle of day and night, and one player has managed to measure how long a day is on the island. A redditor named 10Shredder00 took the time to record the entire process and measure how time passes on the island.

According to 10Shredder00’s calculations, a day in the game is approximately 18 minutes long, with each hour lasting 45 seconds. The most fascinating thing is that a night lasts just four minutes. While we know that time moves differently on the island, this measurement finally reveals the mystery and irregularities. It’s unclear why the nights in the game are so short, but this may be due to the environment becoming incredibly dark, so the developers may not have wanted to leave players unaware for a long time.
After each night, there is a slight delay of about 10-20 seconds before the timer resets and starts again for the next day. Each match will last one day, as the storm will completely take over the map in 20 minutes.
The day and night cycle of the game is a great design decision by the developers and adds to the whole atmosphere and immersion in Fortnite. Related:
