Pets are increasingly inspiring innovation. This time we are talking about the Petvation smart door that is able to identify your pet using artificial intelligence and facial recognition combined. In this way, it is able to open only when necessary avoiding intruders in your home.
The smart door can be fitted to wooden, glass, plywood or plastic doors or windows. It is still airtight, that is, it prevents the entry of water, wind and is still resistant to scratches, in addition to using a camera with an infrared sensor to detect the animal even in the dark and only close the door after its whole body has passed, avoiding accidents.
Up to 32 animals can be registered in the smart door system. To do this, just install the application dedicated to her and do the facial reading of the animal. In addition, the app allows you to lock or open the door remotely, as well as monitor the pet’s behavior from a distance using the integrated camera with night vision.
The port only requires a 12V socket or a power bank to work, after all its mechanism does not have a built-in battery. The standard model dimensions are 57 cm high by 39 cm wide, but larger versions will be released in the future.
Petvation is currently in a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, but the $10,000 goal was hit, raising nearly $89,000. Those who support the campaign will be able to purchase the smart door at 26% off for $169 (~BRL 884.07), the total price is $229 (~BRL 1,198.08) in the US.
The invention uses the same principle as the Pupz app, which was launched in March and also uses facial recognition, but this time to help find lost animals. Pupz is free and already available in Brazil.
