HBO Max’s twisted comedy-drama returns on April 21 with new episodes.
The twisted dramatic comedy of hbo max returns on April 21 with the new chapters. The series starring Kaley Cuoco presented an exclusive first look. In it, Cassie Bowden is seen one year after the events of the initial season. Everything seems to be going well for her, but nothing will go as she had planned.
Season two will take the protagonist to California. She is with new love and celebrating the year of sobriety. About this, the protagonist told some details of the plot to EW magazine: “Cassie believes that she has completely changed. She turned the page and she’s a whole new person, but we quickly found out pretty quickly that that’s not the case and that sobriety is a lot harder than she likes to admit.”
The story, based on the novel by Chris Bohjalianfollows in the footsteps of Cassie (Cuoco), a stewardess who has an affair with a passenger, Alex Sokolov (Michael Huisman), and both spend the night together in Bangkok. Upon waking up from her, everything will be a big problem for her since he appears dead. Cassie is involved in a crime but she doesn’t remember it due to her drunkenness the night before and she doesn’t let him remember anything that happened. She must now solve the crime to clear her name and in the middle of it also solve her serious alcohol problems and a childhood trauma that leads her to make all the wrong decisions.
For the second season, Cassie will now be a CIA asset and assigned to Benjamin Berry (Mo McRae). Her new side job helps her fill that void that was previously occupied by alcohol. “It will take her into dangerous new territory, both personally and physically, and she will be the starting point for the adventure of the season,” confirmed Natalie Chaidez, producer and showrrunner of the second season.
Season 2 will also further explore Cassie’s family. After recounting and addressing Cassie’s relationship with her alcoholic father, almost the main subplot of the first season, the new installment will introduce her mother, Lisa Bowden (Sharon Stone) while Cassie tries to come to terms with her past.
The new batch of episodes will also see Rosie Perez return as Cassie’s friend Megan, who is on the run from the government after accidentally committing treason. Another character is also added: the “dark” Cassie. She will retrace her trips to her subconscious and converse with an imaginary version of herself as shown in the preview.
