First advance of “Tokyo Vice”, the HBO Max series directed by Michael Mann

The new original series of hbo max is a look at the criminal underworld of 1990s Japan. It is inspired by true events and stars Ansel Elgort (West Side Story) as the journalist Jake Adelsteinand Ken Watanabe like a Japanese detective. Michael Mannthe renowned director who participated in the creation of Miami Vice in the 1980s and directed the 2006 film with Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, is an executive producer of the series and directed the first episode. It opens on April 7.

The series was created and written by Tony Award winner JT Rogers and the direction of the first episode of the series is by Mann. The bulk of the chapters are directed Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang Chi). The production will have 10 episodes and will debut with three from the day of the premiere and then two per week until the end of fiction on April 28.

The first trailer introduces Jake and his desire to discover and write about the city’s secrets hidden from tourists: “I want to see the real Tokyo.” The journalist meets a member of the yakuza, who tells him that he risks death by writing about the infamous Japanese criminal organization. Based on the book of the same name, the series will take the writings of the journalist himself to bring his experiences to fiction.

Tokyo Vice also stars Ken Watanabe, the actor with an extensive career in Hollywood, as a Japanese detective. The cast is completed Rinko Kikuchi (Babel, Pacific Titans), Rachel Keller (Fargo, Legion), Ella Rumpf (Succession) and a great cast: Hideaki Ito, Show Kasamatsu, Tomohisa Yamashita and more.

The first three episodes of Tokyo Vice will be released in hbo max on April 7, and two more episodes will join each Thursday until the end on April 28.
