Disney+ plans a new series of “The Muppets”

A new comedy The Muppets approaches the catalog Disney+ and will present us the adventures of Dr. Teeth and Electric Mayhem. The series will star the Canadian youtuber and comedian Lilly Singhand will continue the story of the puppet band in the process of creating the first album of their musical career. The members of the remembered rock group (Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot and Lips) will be back on the small screen to make the public vibrate with their best melodies.

Originally, the musical group debuted in 1975 in The Muppet Showthe classic television series that aired in the 1970s in the United Kingdom and, due to its success, was also broadcast in other countries around the world in the 1980s. The characters were created by Jim Hensonthe American puppeteer who was also behind Sesame Streetwith the purpose of making absurd humor and comic parodies that young people and adults could enjoy.

The new project –titled The Muppets Mayhem– will consist of 10 episodes and will follow the journey of this band, in their 45-year history, as they collide with the modern music scene as they attempt to go platinum. Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes created this original idea based on the Henson franchise (died 1990), they will write and share the production position with Michael Bostick; and Chris Eber. David Lightbody and Leigh Slaughter of The Muppet Studios will be credited as executive producers.

Singh will be the only human protagonist and will play “Nora, the junior A&R executive who is tasked with managing and dealing with the band,” according to the official description he shared. The Muppets Mayhem is the most recent confirmed series that will integrate the brand of The Muppets on Disney+, after a Halloween special was released in October of last year. It is also the second time in the service streaming bets on a television production of a season based on the characters of Jim Henson, after they will try to do the same with Muppets Live Another Daya title that never saw the light of day due to creative differences between Adam Horowitz, Eddy Kitsis and Josh Gad, the latter ending up leaving after long months of development.
