Over the years, Apple has received criticism for trying to “lock in” users in its ecosystem, something that has caused both the US and the EU to review the company’s actions.
Now 9to5Mac draws attention to the fact that it has become significantly more difficult to use Apple TV without having a fairly modern iPhone or iPad alongside.
With the upgrade to TV OS 16, a device with IOS 16 or Ipad OS 16 is required to change the settings for one’s Apple account or accept the user agreement for iCloud on Apple TV.
Since it should be a simple matter to make sure you can do these things right on your Apple TV, it’s hard to interpret the process in any other way than Apple doing everything it can to get us more of the company’s gadgets.
