Annoyed by voice messages? Then you will be happy that WhatsApp is obviously working on a Voice Transcription Tool that can Convert WhatsApp Voice message to text.
- WABetaInfo reports on the upcoming WhatsApp voice message transcription tool
- The function is expected soon in the iOS beta
- Texts should be saved locally
Do you find voice messages unbearable in messengers? Then you are sure to be pleased that there are already options for displaying voice messages as text. WhatsApp is now apparently working on its own function that can automatically display voice messages in written form.
WhatsApp tests voice message transcription tool
As is so often the case, it is the colleagues from WABetaInfo who stumbled upon this new feature. There it is reported that the transcription function for the iOS app from WhatsApp is currently being worked on and could already be implemented in one of the upcoming betas.
WhatsApp relies on Apple’s Speech Recognition Technology here. The texts are saved so that you do not have to transcribe the voice messages again if you want to access the information again later. Important: The texts are saved locally, so go not to WhatsApp or Facebook!
The function requires a new authorization in order to be able to send the data to Apple. It is optional and also offers the option of jumping to the relevant point in the voice message with timestamps.
Android implementation not yet in sight
We do not yet know when the WhatsApp Voice Transcription Tool will be used in the iOS beta version or when it will be rolled out for all iOS users. We haven’t heard anything about the Android version yet. As mentioned at the beginning, you will have to make do with third-party apps that can do this trick for the time being.
I am now eagerly waiting for this to work with WhatsApp on-board tools in the future. Question to the Tech Markup community: Can you imagine converting WhatsApp Voice message to text? Or will the WhatsApp voice message haters among you continue to boycott voice messages? Write it to us in the comments!
