The Ministry of Regional Development (MDR) has partnered with WhatsApp and the company Robbu to use the messenger as a Civil Defense notification channel in the event of natural disasters, so that citizens will receive messages from the authorities warning of storms, landslides, floods, etc.
According to information, the Technical Cooperation Agreement (ACT) was signed this Wednesday (29) by the MDR minister, Daniel Ferreira, who during a press conference held at 11 am today informed that the security feature will be implemented in all municipalities in the country in the next 60 days.
As explained by Ferreira, citizens can register on the platform by talking to the Civil Defense chatbot and informing their zip codewith this you will only be alerted about emergency situations in your region, personal safety tips and other useful news, as is currently done by the authorities using the operators’ SMS service.
While availability on WhatsApp does not happen, those interested in receiving notices on their cell phone in case of abnormalities can send the CEP number free of charge to the Civil Defense telephone 40199, registering 2to receive alerts in case of natural disasters.and meteorological phenomena of high magnitude.
