During the season 11 premiere of Chicago Fire, released by NBC last Wednesday (21), the public watched the separation of Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer). For that reason, Andrea Newman, the showrunner of the firefighter production, recently spoke with the TV Line to elucidate some points related to the development of the couple in the narrative.
The separation scene takes place in the final moments of the titled “Hold On Tight” (Hold on tight, in a free translation). In it, you can see Brett very emotional talking to Casey on the phone. It is worth noting that, at no time, does the latter appear in physical form in the sequence.
In this sense, according to Newman, the end goes far beyond the departure of Jesse Spencer from the cast of the series. “Honestly, it’s much more connected to the evolution of this character. We’ve watched her change her life twice over men. Even when she arrives [no esquadrão 51 de Chicago] it’s because of another breakup, which motivated him to move,” she explained.
“We felt that she had already made a lot of decisions based on those relationships, and Brett had already become a stronger, more independent woman,” she added.
“It doesn’t matter how much she loves Casey, which is undeniable, but now she’s making decisions with her own future in mind.” “In the beginning, she needed to grow up and now that she has, she is a tough woman. Something really fun to watch,” the showrunner concluded.
Chicago Fire: what to expect from the 11th season of the series?
After some time away from television, Chicago’s 51 Squadron firefighters are back to fight new fires and experience great emotions in intense conflicts.
Jesse Spencer’s departure from the series during the development of Season 10 took viewers by surprise, particularly those who had been expecting a farewell from Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo).
Now married to Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), Kidd has other concerns and dilemmas. Therefore, the next episodes should focus on the decisions of both, who have definitely become the new protagonists of the narrative.
the cast of Chicago Fire Christian Stolte as Randall McHolland, Eamonn Walker as Boden, Joe Minoso as Cruz, David Eigenberg as Herrmann, Daniel Kyri as Ritter, Alberto Rosende as Gallo and Hanako Greensmith as Violet.
So stay tuned and be sure to check it out! The next episode of the series of firefighters will be shown next Wednesday (28) with Chicago Med and Chicago PD on NBC.
