Chainsaw Man: Guilherme Briggs will stop dubbing anime after threats

The Brazilian voice actor Guilherme Briggs revealed this Friday (13) that he will leave the production Chainsaw Manafter suffering attacks and even death threats by fans.

“I’m going to ask to leave the dubbing of this anime. I don’t want to be in it anymore. It’s over for me”, he said on his Twitter. Shortly before, the voice actor said that he was worried about losing his Twitter and Instagram accounts after the various hacking attempts. “I am suffering hate attacks, taunts and threats because of Chainsaw Man. I apologize to you for this news, I hope this all goes away,” she wrote.

It all started due to the unofficial dubbing of the manga that became quite popular among fans. In the unofficial translation, a scene in which the character Demônio do Futuro says “The future is pica” gained repercussions.

While the Brazilian version, published by Panini, translated the scene as “the future is awesome”, the Brazilian dubbing put “The future is show”. é pica” was maintained. Check out the scene in question below:

Brigss, who voices the demon, received a barrage of criticism. On social networks, a part of the fans came out in defense of the professional who has lent voice to great characters, including Buzz Lightyear.

Crunchyroll, which airs the anime, has yet to comment on Briggs’ departure.
