Blade: Director Abandons Marvel Film Before Filming; Look!

Marvel announced on Wednesday (28) the resignation of director Bassim Tariq from the film project. Blade: The Vampire Hunter, new MCU reboot. According to the studios, Tariq will still be an executive producer on the film, but will no longer direct.

The news was disclosed to the American portal Deadline. In a statement, Marvel thanked the director for his contribution.

“Due to the ongoing changes to our production schedule, Bassam Tariq will no longer direct, but will continue to executive produce the film. We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he has done to bring blade where it is,” the statement reads.

Production was scheduled to begin in November 2023. However, the studio must seek a new director to continue the project.

The new MCU reboot stars Mahershala Ali of Green Book: The Guide and Moonlight: Under the Moonlight. The actor will be Blade, a character that has also been played by Wesley Snipes. The production was announced at Comic Con San Diego 2019 and fits into phase 5 of this universe.
