The protagonist of the sequel is, once again, Jake Sully. Due to a serious injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down, the character was discharged from the United States Army, where he was part of the Marine Corps.

And after receiving the news that Tom Sully, his brother, died, he decides to participate in the Avatar program, which was aimed at exploring the planet Pandora. Once in this new location, Jake met Neytiri, for whom he had an instant affection. After numerous disagreements, conversations and other conflicts, he received the honor of being part of the Na’vi community.

Thus, in Avatar: The Way of Water, audiences follow Jake Sully as head of the Omaticaya clan about a decade after the events of the first film. With Neytiri, he takes care of his children Neteyam, Lo’ak, Tuk, Kiri and Spider.

Actor Sam Worthington, who plays him, is currently 46 years old and is also known for movies like Terminator Salvation (2009) and Clash of the Titans (2010).

The female protagonist of the franchise is the warrior Neytiri te Tskaha Mo’at’ite, who meets Jake Sully after saving him from an ambush in the forest. With that, the two gradually approach, with Neytiri teaching everything she knows to her new ally. Later, the two become romantically involved.

In the new film, the strength of Zoë Saldaña’s character is back, especially when fighting for her children, whether they are biological or adopted. It is also worth highlighting some other works by this actress, such as Star Trek (2009), Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Amsterdam (2022).
