In addition to the high-end and ultra-high-end gaming notebooks belonging to the ROG Strix, Scar, Zephyrus, and Flow series, Asus used the CES 2022 as a launchpad for the new TUF series laptops which, strangely, were announced alongside the Zenbook solutions. A curious choice, no doubt, but which perhaps wants to highlight how these products, even with respectable hardware, are intended for a much wider audience than the exclusive models mentioned above. But ban on pleasantries; we immediately discover the new Asus TUF Gaming F and Gaming A, and the Dash F15 and F17.
TUF GAMING FE GAMING A
Let’s start by talking about the TUF Gaming F and TUF Gaming A models, both available in versions with 15 and 17-inch displays. These are basically identical solutions from an aesthetic and hardware point of view. The only difference that distinguishes the two lines is the origin of the platform underlying the solution. The Gaming F models are in fact equipped with Intel Core Alder Lake H processors up to the Core i7 12700H, while the Gaming A models offer AMD chips of the new Ryzen 6000 series with the more powerful SKU equipped with the Ryzen 7 6800H.
After removing the processors, as just mentioned, the rest of the components are basically identical and we are talking about NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards up to the RTX 3070, PCIe 4 SSD up to 1 TB, and DDR5 RAM up to 16 GB. As for connectivity, we have WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, while on the perimeter we find a USB-C with Thunderbolt support (only for Intel versions), a second USB-C 3.2 Gen2, two USB-A 3.2 Gen1, one HDMI 2.0, Ethernet, and combo audio jack.
As already mentioned, both versions will be available with both a 15.6-inch display and a 17-inch panel and in all cases, you can choose between two combinations of resolution and refresh rate. In particular, we will have the QHD option with 100% DCI-P3 and 165Hz coverage or a 300Hz FHD IPS.
Let’s close by talking about batteries and dimensions. As for the battery capacity, we can choose between 90Wh and 56Wh, in both cases with support for fast charging. The dimensions range instead from 354 x 251 x 22.4 ~ 24.9 mm of the 15 inch to 394 x 264 x 22.9 ~ 25.4 mm of the 17. The weight is instead respectively of 2.2 and 2.6 Kg .
We still have no information regarding availability and price, we await further information in this regard over the next few weeks.
TUF DASH F15
Unlike the Gaming models that allow you to choose between two different display sizes, the new Asus TUF Dash F15 is only available in a version with a 15-inch panel and compared to the models described above it offers a slightly less performing processor. According to Asus, in fact, for this notebook, we will have to “settle” for the new Intel Core i7 12650H, certainly not a low-end chip but with a few fewer cores than the 12700H.
However, the equipment remains the same as regards the graphic component. You can choose between different configurations but the most powerful SKU will be equipped with a GeForce RTX 3070 laptop with a TGP up to 105W and MUX Switch technology. Performance during gaming sessions should therefore still be good despite being a thinner and lighter notebook than the other announced models.
The rest of the data sheet speaks of a PCIe 4 SSD with a capacity that can reach up to 1 TB and a second slot available for memory expansion. The RAM instead is of the DDR5 type and the maximum configuration should be able to count on 16GB of memory.
Here too there is a good supply of ports with a USB-C with Thunderbolt support, a second USB-C 3.2 Gen2 that supports charging up to 100 W, two USB-A 3.2 Gen1, one HDMI 2.0, ethernet, and a combo audio jack. . The battery is hidden under the body is 76 Wh and supports fast charging.
To close, let’s talk about dimensions because these, small to tell the truth, sacrifices compared to the Gaming F and Gaming A models lead to a decidedly lower thickness and weight. The dimensions of the new Dash F15 are in fact 355×252.2×19.6 mm with a weight of 2 Kg.
