However, some facts indicate that, unfortunately, Aquaman 2 may be Momoa’s last project as Arthur Curry (hero’s real name). With the addition of James Gunn and Peter Safran in charge of DC’s audiovisual sector, which encompasses all of the brand’s films, series and animations, some remodeling is expected for the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).

Among the changes happening within Warner Bros. Discovery, owner of DC’s audiovisual works, many things have been considered. According to a source from The Hollywood Reporter, for example, the film Wonder Woman 3 may be canceled because it does not fit into the new planning set up by the duo (Gunn and Safran).

Another drastic measure would be to put an end to the Snyderverse, a series of films directed by Zack Snyder that featured relevant titles, such as Justice Leagueand which included stars like Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Godot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.

And who would be in the middle of all this remodeling, consequently, is Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, who could be thrown to the sidelines in order to open new paths for the DCEU. The actor was even scheduled to make a cameo in the film. The Flash (2023). However, the scene can also be cut and not see the light of day.

The good news, on the other hand, is that Jason Momoa could return to the DCEU, but as another character: Lobo. The anti-hero has been rumored in the brand’s films for some time and many believe that the actor would be perfect for the role. Additionally, the character would fit Gunn’s taste for eccentric figures.

So far, however, planning for DC’s future in cinema and streaming has yet to be revealed. Let’s wait for news!
