Each time Apple launches a new generation of iPhone, the firm stops marketing certain older models. For example, in 2021, after the launch of the iPhone 13 series , the Cupertino company stopped marketing the iPhone XR and iPhone 12 Pro.
And today, while rumors about the iPhone 14 series are already numerous, we are starting to be interested in the models that the firm will stop selling once this new series is on the market, around September.
Soon the end of the iPhone 11?
In an article published a few days ago, the iDropNews site indicates that after the launch of the iPhone 14, Apple will finally stop selling the iPhone 11. According to the site, most of its sources would agree on this.
Why ? Because the iPhone 11 would start to get old. And moreover, it would be a competitor for the iPhone SE 2022, the affordable smartphone that Apple launched in the month of March.
Indeed, given that the prices of the iPhone 11 and the iPhone SE 2022 are quite close, some customers (who are not interested in 5G or the A15 Bionic chip) would be tempted to buy the iPhone 11, with a modern design, instead of choosing iPhone SE 2022, which has the same design as iPhone 8.
Apple would continue to market the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13
Also according to iDropNews, the iPhone 12 could be marketed by Apple for an additional year. The model would indeed be very well positioned, since it is not affordable enough to compete with the iPhone SE 2022, nor is it too high-end to compete with the more recent premium models.
On the other hand, the site does not comment on the iPhone 12 mini. And for the iPhone 13, iDropNews ensures that this model still has a bright future ahead of it. Even the iPhone 13 mini could continue to be marketed.
As for the iPhone 13 Pro, Apple may not have decided its fate yet. Indeed, in the event of a shortage for the iPhone 14 Pro, older models would allow customers to have a new smartphone without waiting too long.
Of course, at the moment, all this information is not official. And caution is therefore always in order. Nevertheless, it is certain that at least one of the old iPhones currently released by Apple will be removed from its site, once the iPhone 14 is launched.
It is worth noting that the iPhone 14 series models are highly anticipated, especially the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Indeed, according to rumors, these two models should have a bubble and a pill on the front, instead of the traditional notch. In addition, Apple would equip these two models with a main camera of 48 megapixels, which will significantly improve performance in photography and video.
