Apple investigates fake emergency calls from skiers with iPhone 14

Apple’s new function for automatic crash detection and subsequent emergency calls does not work perfectly. In the New York region, emergency operators have reportedly seen a large increase in false emergency calls from local ski resorts due to Apple’s new feature coming with iPhone 14 models as well as 2022 Apple Watch models. This is reported by the New York Post.

The function should alert if the watch or mobile detects a crash and the user does not respond to the mobile’s messages within ten seconds. However, the function is said to have been accidentally activated when skiers and snowboarders fall. It is also not the first time we have been approached by similar reports.
